Rabindra Sangeet instrumentalist and V. Balsara are two inseparable words. He was probably one of the greatest exponents of Rabindra Sangeet instrumentalist from the yesteryear and he became a famous instrumentalist, orchestra conductor, a music teacher and the music director of non-filmy songs and a few Bengali films during rest of his life. Different musical instruments were experimented by him. He arranged and played the background music for Lata Mangeshkar’s first Bengali song (a duet Rabindra Sangeet with HemantK) - 'madhu gandhe bharaa'. V Balsara was one among such music directors who started his career in Hindi films but could not sustain it for long as a music director. Then he joined the Bengali film industry and got a huge success rest of his life.
He began his music career at the age of four. Even he had collaborated with the popular Bengali rock band, Bhoomi, to create fusion music. Vistas Ardeshir Balsara, also known as V. Balsara in the music world was born in Bombay to a Gujarati speaking Parsi Zoroastrian family. From the childhood, he was interested towards Western music. His first childhood teacher was his mother who taught him harmonium. At the age of 6, he gave his first public performance at C.J Hall in Mumbai where he played the pedal harmonium.

10 years later, he had mastery over five musical instruments including piano which he learnt from a German musician Hildafield. Balsara, the legendary music composer who was a wizard with instrumental orchestration, died in Kolkata on 24th March of cancer. He was suffering from malignant tumour and other geriatric problems. Rabindranath Tagore the great poet laureate wrote and composed innumerable songs in the vast gamut of literary works, which he produced in his long and prolific career. He almost single handedly changed the way Bengali Modern Songs were viewed at and created his own brand of music which later on came to be known as Rabindra Sangeet. In this compilation of Tagore Songs has many evergreen Rabindra Sangeets displayed the maestro’s instrumental musical skills.
